Container with a lid, a tablespoon, toothpicks, a kitchen knife, cutting board.
Cooking spicy herring rolls:
Step 1: prepare the marinade.
In a container, mix the oil with a pinch of curry, paprika, ground pepper and 1 teaspoon mustard. Mix everything very well with a spoon.
Peel the onions and cut into rings, and then add to the marinade along with bay leaves and peas of allspice.
Add ketchup and mix well together to make the marinade uniform.
Step 2: prepare herring fillet.
Rinse herring fillet with cold water from oil and wipe with paper towels. Then cut each filet in half lengthwise.
Rub the fish with the remaining pepper, curry, paprika and mustard. Distribute the spices and roll the fillet into rolls, fix each with a toothpick, piercing through.
Step 3: pickle herring rolls.
Place the herring rolls in the marinade to the onion, drown with your fingers, close the lid and refrigerate 24 hours. Occasionally, fish can be turned over so that it is properly soaked with cooked marinade. But it is best if the rolls are always completely covered with spiced oil.
Step 4: serve herring spicy rolls.
Serve spicy herring rolls with onions and without removing toothpicks (it’s convenient to take rolls for them), with which they were pickled. Put the appetizer on a beautiful plate, garnished with fresh herbs and / or salted vegetables. It turns out a wonderful festive snack. Ideal for the New Year, don’t you?
Enjoy your meal!
- Before serving, you can chop olives or slices of pickles sticking out of the rolls, but only so that you can still grab onto the toothpick with your fingers.
