Beetroot and Smoked Fish Salad


Ingredients for making beetroot and smoked fish salad

  1. Smoked fish (mackerel here) 1 piece
  2. Cooked potatoes 2-3 pieces
  3. Boiled or baked beets 1 piece
  4. Horseradish root 1 piece
  5. Red onion 2 pieces
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Ground black pepper to taste
  8. Olive oil for dressing
  9. Vinegar or lemon juice for dressing
  10. Several slices of bread

Inventory:

Ice cream makers or small bowls, a kitchen knife, grater, cutting board, tablespoon, plates, cling film.

Making beetroot and smoked fish salad:

Step 1: prepare the ingredients.


All vegetables must be cooled and peeled.
Cleanse the fish from skin and bones, and then disassemble its meat with your fingers to make medium-sized pieces.
Horseradish root and beets need to be grated. Beets - on medium, and horseradish - on small.
Red onions need to be cut into feathers or half rings.
Cut the potatoes into medium-sized cubes.

Step 2: prepare the top layer of the salad.


Take a deep plate and pour grated beets with horseradish into it.

While stirring, add lemon juice, pepper and a little salt here. Put this part of the salad aside for now.

Step 3: prepare the bottom layer of the salad.


Combine the onions and potatoes in a free plate, pepper and salt a little, add olive oil, mix and also put aside.

Step 4: connect the layers.


Take a small but deep plate and cover it with cling film.

At the edges of the plate, lay the beets with horseradish, pressing it to the film and leveling so that a thin layer without holes is formed.

Now put the potatoes with onions here and squeeze it a little so that the salad takes the desired shape.

Put pieces of fish on the potato, also crushing.

And on top, place a piece of bread cut in the shape of a plate. Press firmly and place everything in the refrigerator before serving. But do not hold for a long time.

Step 5: serve beetroot and smoked fish salad.


Serve the salad as follows: take either portioned plates or one large and turn your salad upside down there. All that remains is to remove the film gently and scatter the greenery around it artistically.

Salad of beets and smoked fish is very hearty and tasty. Suitable on the table as a cold snack.
