Making a salad with herring, cranberries and prunes:

Step 1: lay a layer of cranberries.

You can prepare a salad in a large common plate or take some small glass vessels, in the latter case the dish will turn out much more spectacular.
The first layer is dried cranberries. Lay and flatten.

Step 2: layer onion.

Chop the onion very finely and pour cranberries on it so that the berries are completely hidden.

Step 3: layer herring.

Blot the herring fillet from butter and cut into small cubes, and then lay on top of the onion. Press lightly all the layers.

Step 4: add mayonnaise.

Coat the herring layer thoroughly with mayonnaise.

Step 5: layer the prunes.

Rinse the prunes thoroughly (scald with boiling water), dry and cut into small cubes. Lay it in the salad with the next layer. By the way, you can leave some prunes for decoration.

Step 6: layer the eggs.

Hard-boiled eggs, cool, peel and grate or chop very finely and lay on top of the salad with the topmost layer.

Step 7: serve a salad with herring, cranberries and prunes.

Before serving, it is better to let the salad with herring and cranberries stand for several hours or overnight in the refrigerator, so it will become tastier when the layers are soaked.
Serve chilled with garnished with prunes or mayonnaise.
Enjoy your meal!
